Datenschutzerklärung – SpaceBuddy

Stand: 19. Oktober 2026. SpaceBuddy hieß früher „Platzmacher“.

Kurz gesagt

Privacy Policy – SpaceBuddy

Last updated: October 19, 2026. SpaceBuddy was formerly called “Platzmacher”.

In short

SpaceBuddy does not collect any personal data, creates no accounts and contains no ads and no analytics tools. There is no server of our own that the app sends anything to.

Photos and videos

The app reads your photo library to find the largest photos and videos and copies them to the destination you choose: a USB stick, a folder in the Files app (for example iCloud Drive) or your Dropbox. If you wish, it then deletes the files from your iPhone. iOS asks you for confirmation every time.

To start quickly, the app remembers the size, file name and storage location of your photos in a file on your iPhone. This file never leaves your iPhone.

Image recognition

For “Find Person”, the subject search and the optional description, the app recognizes faces and subjects itself on your iPhone (using Apple’s Vision technology). This works without internet. The results, including mathematical features of faces, are stored only on your iPhone so that the search is instant next time. They are not sent anywhere and not shared. If you delete the app, they are gone.

Place names

For searching by place and for the optional description, the app converts place names into coordinates and vice versa. It uses Apple’s map service for this. Only the place name you entered or the coordinates are sent to Apple. Apple’s privacy policy applies.

Dropbox

If you choose Dropbox as the destination, you sign in in a Dropbox window. The app never receives your password, only an access key, which is stored exclusively in your iPhone’s keychain. Photos and videos are uploaded directly from your iPhone to your Dropbox. The app only creates folders and new files there; it never deletes or overwrites anything in your Dropbox. Dropbox’s privacy policy applies. You can sign out at any time in the app’s help.

Face ID

For the “Hidden” album, the app asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode via iOS. The app only learns whether the check succeeded – never your face, fingerprint or passcode.

Your rights

Since the app does not collect personal data, the developer holds no data about you that would need to be corrected or deleted. If you have questions, feel free to write to the address below.
