SpaceBuddy

So geht's

  1. Was soll weg?

SpaceBuddy

SpaceBuddy finds the largest photos and videos on your iPhone and moves them safely to a USB stick or your Dropbox – and, if you like, frees up space on your iPhone afterwards.

How it works

  1. What should go? The largest files are at the top. Tap to select. Press and hold: “Everything from this day”, “Everything within 500 m”, “Find this person”.
  2. Where to? USB stick (or iCloud Drive or “On My iPhone”), Dropbox with a folder of your choice – or “Just Delete”.
  3. Copy or move? When moving, everything is copied and checked first, then deleted. iOS asks once more, and for 30 days everything stays in the “Recently Deleted” album.

Questions

My USB stick won’t take large videos. Many sticks are formatted with FAT32 and only store files up to 4 GB. Format the stick as exFAT on a computer (this deletes everything on the stick).

Why does it sometimes take long? Files with a cloud icon are only in iCloud and have to be downloaded first. Best on Wi-Fi with your iPhone plugged in – for large amounts, overnight in Night Mode.

I use iCloud Photos. Then “Move” also deletes the files in iCloud and on your other devices.

The “Hidden” album is empty. If “Use Face ID” is turned on for Photos in Settings, iOS doesn’t give hidden photos to any app. Turn it off briefly under Settings › Apps › Photos.
